Study Permit is often confused with Student Visa. However, both of them have different meanings and purpose. A Student Visa is an authorization to enter into the country. It is a conditional authorization, which means that even if you have a student visa, the officer at the border has the authority to deny you entry into the country.
In short, Student Visa allows you to enter a country.
Student Permit allows you to stay in the country.
The general category or Non-SDS category options are similar to SDS, but if you do not entirely fulfill the SDS requirement or in other words, if you get a little less points than requirements, then you have the option of general category after fulfilling the other requirements.
Once the visa team has explained the process, they will request you to upload the required documents to your account to proceed with the formalities. On your portal you can also pay necessary charges for your visa.
